Martin Whips----Is a family owned company that sells very nicely crafted Whips. Each Bullwhip belly is pulled through a copper pipe handle foundation making it so that the belly will never come away from the handle. They sell cowhide whips that put some Roohide whips to shame for their performance. The cane on the stockwhips is of the highest quality I have seen, and the braiding is very tight and strong. For some of the whips Scott uses a Greenhide core which is among some of the strongest material for a whip core. They also sell whip kits that includes a whipmaking books by Ron Edwards for free! They even decided to post videos on their website of making knots and doing certain round braids. Believe it or not they even sell a kids whip, and a custom whip for kids great as a gift and you can have your name imprinted in the wrist strap. They have very, very good prices and will ship anywhere I believe. ( depends if you want to pay the shipping :) but its really worth the shipping cost). I've tried them for leather supply and they use top notch stuff! Definitely have a look around here. Whipmaking has been in their family for 3 generations.

--Whipmaking Supplies--

Martin Whip's Whip Supplies---Here is another site run by martin whips for whipmaking supplies. Here is a place where the people you are buying it from know what you need because its strictly for whip supplies. They have a great selection of cowhides and Roohides at great prices and even sell cane for Stockwhip handles. I just received from leather from Scott Martin And I must say it is beyond belief! This leather is wonderful, The Cane handles he sent me are awesome and the falls are so good they look machine made. I HIGHLY recommend Martin whips! the service and the quality of the product is great and if the leather is this great I cant believe how good his whips must be! The price is definitely worth it!

Siegel's of ca----This place has lots of leather.....all different kinds but at the moment I cant really make detailed review because their site is currently under construction.

leather factory---Has boatloads of leather and any leather tools you can think of....has very cheap prices but I cant comment about the quality or thickness because I never asked or purchased anything here but looks like they have top notch stuff.

u braid it---Tons of books and lace and other tack supplies but they do not have any uncut hides....Only precut lace. But they do sell nylon chord for nylon whips.

David Morgan-----They sell large amounts of Roohides and roo lace but no cow stuff. There are tons of books and they also sell pecards leather dressing, some very high priced leather but some of the best you can find from the man who makes the Real Indy Jones style whip. You can call the shop and talk with morgan and have him pick out a hide for you just tell him what kind of whip you are using it for and he will get you a great one.

Tandy Leather--------ok, Tandy leather is a really great place to get leather from but only really if you have a Tandy shop near you. The online store does not really have as much as the stores do and its really much better to see the leather in person then just guess and hope its correct and waste all that cash on something you cant use. The people at the shop were very helpful and understood (almost) everything I asked them. They were very nice, even though they though I was crazy when I said I was cutting my own lace for whipmaking. And one of the people there even said they had been making whips for 5 years. They even have a wholesale club for people big in the leather industry so you can get a good discount on things and it cost 35$ for 2 years, and almost pays for itself within 2 purchases. I get all of my tools from the shop and if you have one with in at least 2 hours your house you should go, but make sure you bring lots of cash :)
